Kick Vogel

Kick Vogel (1990) is a born and raised Rotterdam photographer. He roams outside to discover the beauty in things other people wouldn’t. His work is a mix of portraits, grimy street and nature
photography, mostly black and white.

After a catastrophic event in his life involving the death of his loved one, he bought a camera to distract himself. This distraction turned into a passion, a passion to find beauty in death, and
beauty in how time moves on while standing still. This passion inspires him to get out of the house and look around him and actually see.

This exposition is a display of life, death and time standing still while everything continues around you. A place of solitude, grief and relief.

He chose to let his photos be screen-printed by Arjan Elenbaas, a good friend and very talented artist. The color and black and white show the contrast of emotions one might feel after a loss, and just like death, screen-prints look really different up close than from a far.

Inspired by and in loving memory of Ciska Meijerink.
